Cozy Fall Reads: My Book Recs for this Autumn Season - Part I
There’s something about fall that makes me want to curl up with a good book, a cozy blanket, and maybe a glass of cider (or Coke Zero…don’t judge). The days get shorter, the air gets crisper, and stories feel like an invitation to slow down and savor.
But this isn’t fall…yet.
It’s still very much bordering 90 degree weather here in the deep south. And although, I shouldn’t be wearing my soft Lord of the Rings sweater, the rainy (albeit humid) weather outside tempts me to do so….while cranking up the AC (sorry, Hunny! Cozy reading ambience comes before bills, apparently).
Before we dip into cooler weather and pumpkin spice lattes everywhere we turn, here are book recs that will get you into the cozy fall reading mood. These books will make you laugh, cry, and reflect—perfect companions for autumn nights.
📚 London, Love, & A Little Something Irish by Nataly Jennings
Now, if you follow me on social media or subscribed to my newsletters, you’ll know London, Love, & A Little Something Irish has had me somewhat in a chokehold since I’ve read it. If you’re in the mood for a faith-filled rom-com that will sweep you away, this one deserves a spot on your fall reading list. The heroine, Nataly, dreams what most women dream of: that head-over-heels, butterflies-for-breakfast, dancing-in-the-rain kind of love—but instead she “settles” for Joel, who’s safe and steady. Then, along comes Nathan: adventurous, intentional, impossible to ignore, and deliciously Irish (would be better if he were Scottish, but I’m partial because Hunter is Scottish).
Set against the dreamy streets of London and the rugged wild of Northern Ireland, this story is full of charm, wit, and hope. Even better—about 80% of it is based on Nataly Jennings’ real love story. It’s the kind of book that will leave you smiling and sighing as you turn to the very last page.
🎧 The Voice We Find (Fog Harbor Romance #3) by Nicole Deese
Nicole Deese has a gift for writing fiction that feels both tender and profound. The Voice We Find—the third book in her Fog Harbor Romance series—centers around audiobook narration, found family, and faith. Holt is a man who’s built walls around his pain, and Callie is the kind of character who walks into a room and lights it up with creativity and courage. Watching their worlds collide felt honest, sometimes messy, and deeply moving.
This book features meaningful deaf/hard-of-hearing representation in Holt’s sister, which is rare in literature and especially within the shelves of Christian fiction. I love this book not only because it’s rare to see such representation, but because Deese deftly maneuvers the topic with authenticity and care. Her characters are always layered and relatable, and if you haven’t read the first two books in this series, I highly recommend them, as well.
When you have a book this solid in the way faith is portrayed (and a love story like Holt and Callie’s that gives you the kind of ending your heart hopes for), it’s easy to be reminded that God’s voice speaks through every circumstance—especially in the silence. It’s heartfelt, thoughtful, and a perfect addition to your fall reading stack.
💔 It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way by Lysa TerKeurst
This book is not fiction and it’s even more than a devotional, but a gripping prescription to life’s disappointments. Lysa takes us through what we, as believers, need to do when heartaches ad trials leave us feeling like God’s lack of intervention is hurtful and His promises seem doubtful. The answer is, and will always be, going back to scripture. TerKeurst continually points us to God’s word in a world that continually fails to meet our expectations.
Her honesty makes space for our own brokenness (and for a lot of my own questions). Her hope reminds us of God’s faithfulness even when—and especially when—life doesn’t turn out the way we thought it would. For anyone navigating a hard season of life going into the fall, I couldn’t recommend this book more.
Stay tuned for more Fall Book Recs in the second part of this series. While you’re waiting, pick up a copy of the books above and curl up in your favorite reading spot and let me know what your favorite parts were in the comments below!
Cheers to a Cozy Evening!
